It seems that words were not enough to express his inner turmoil so he needed to cry out to his Creator. While writing this piece I envisioned David falling at the feet of God, then compassionately being picked up and embraced. God, seeing David’s humility and faith, hears and answers his prayer. This contemporary choral setting uses cluster voicings and influences from jazz harmony to exploit the emotional intensity of the text.
