Il est bel et bon is one of the most popular Renaissance chansons, the French equivalent of the madrigal. It combines, in music, the gossiping of the village women and the clucking of chickens. This arrangement combines a string bass pizz (separate bass section) and a women's trio, ?a Andrews Sisters style. Over all of that, the chanson is sung note for note in its original form but with scat syllables, and, oh yes, faster!
