  • May 15, 2011 Great book of Jewish & Israeli folksongs

Not only a comprehensive collection, this book also offers a course of study for learning recorder (German and Baroque fingerings). Lessons progress fairly quickly with little repetition of simple stuff. Also no music theory: you should already understand note duration and musical notation, or figure it out yourself. Also, this...

is a reprinted older book, so don't expect modern Israeli songs: ie no Naomi Shemer, the queen of Israeli folk music. Still, I love using this book, because my other instructional recorder book is mostly "made up" tunes, children's songs and global tunes I’ve never heard. These book feels much more familiar and relevant, with many songs crammed into a compact book. Beware - Sheet Music Plus at first said they'd ship right away and only later did they tell me it was back-ordered. They’ll sell the book even though they don't have it in stock. It arrived within about a month, however, and I am completely satisfied with the book, but not these sales tactics.

A little bit simple, and easy for me to play, , but love to play and hear these wonderful Jewish songs
