  • April 27, 2014 Hanon Revisited - Contemporary Hanon . . .

This is one totally GREAT piano book, specifically designed to truly build-up both hands, fingers, wrists, forearms, EVERYTHING to MAX STRENGTH plus the needed FLEXABILTITY for doing 'perfect' runs and all the stuff you'll ever need to do as a pro pianist. I love this one book as...

it has one play in the Contrupuntal 'J.S. Bach' manner with each study having different fingers on different notes in BOTH parallel & contrary motions, best of all it has complete fingering of ALL the notes, on every page, throughout the entire book! Best Hanon available!! Shipped FAST!!!

  • March 06, 2014 "New", Hanon Revisited . . .

This seems like it could really help me alot, but does anyone know " IF " there are 'finger numbers' on all of the notes througout the entire book, I sure hope so as it would make it easier for me to study and work harder at this one particular great Hanon...

if so?! Would someone from SMP or someone else out there please let me know by writing a review directly after this one, thank you very much - in advace. Wish you all a great day!

  • January 17, 2012 Best taken after the original

The editors Gold and Fizdale were trained in Juilliard (under Rosina Lhevinne if I remember correctly). That just goes to show the quality of this work. They applied countrapuntal and rhythmic techniques, essentially making the Hanon exercises more useful and effective. The student should study a couple of the original...

first and then shift to this edition later.

  • December 04, 2008 A Giant Step Forward

Initially mind-boggling for the Hanon player. Presents real learning problems in fast two-voiced playing of different rhythmic patterns. Also, the exercises sound much better than the original Hanon. in my opinion, an excellent work which deserves wider publicity. This work is quick to identify technical problems. The student...

should therefore play slowly, resolving difficulties as they arise, before considering any increase in tempo.

  • June 24, 2008 Great ...except that you have to keep on doing

Very good book for keeping your fingers in a good shape and ready to play other pieces after...if you want to fully benefit from it, you have to finish the book first, and after to keep practicing day by day increasing the speed gradually. Is like having a meal...

special designed for the fingers :)) All in All great book with great results !! And for the new part I can say that is really intersting the counterpoint that is flourishing from switching the fingers in differnet position --contrary or parallel motions ...the new rhytmical stuff is really good for speed and accuracy...this study can produce some nice ideas in improvisation or bass lines for jazz lovers If you love precision youre gona love this book as well...ohh by the way , get a metronome cuz' is reaaallly necesary sometimes !!!
