Beginning adult students will find this book challenging enough to be interesting, yet easy enough to experience a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Richly orchestrated accompaniments are available online for streaming or download and provide a rewarding musical experience for the players. Companion supplementary books including Popular Hits, Popular Favorites, Christmas Favorites, and Traditional Hymns are also available.

  • July 03, 2008 Great for adult beginners

Hal Leonard has created a wonderful series. I've used it with adult beginner students since it was introduced, with great success. Most "adult" instruction books are converted from previously published juvenile series; this one's created from scratch specifically for adult students and written by obvious experts. The music...

examples are fresh, interesting, even clever. My only complaint is that Hal Leonard doesn't yet have a Book 3 - although Keith Mardak promises me that they're working on one. Supplementary books are also very good.

  • February 12, 2008 Great Method for High School Setting

I'm a high school class piano teacher and I've used the Hal Leonard Adult Method for past three years. I've taught this class using other adult methods, but am grateful there is finally a method that works. My students love this book with the fine midi/CD...

accompaniments. These beginners progress at a rapid rate and want to continue to learn after they are finished with the semester. Many continue on to the second semester course which I use the Hal Leonard Book 2. Students equally are enthused about coming to class and learning to play the piano. I highly recommend this method for the adult beginner.

  • May 29, 2007 Better As a Supplement

This book is a collection of wonderfully-arranged music combined with a method that has a lot of holes in it. The learning progression is very uneven and frought with problems as a result. The music, however, is too good to pass up. The best use of this book is...

to combine it with a good adult piano method (Alfred, Faber, Glover) and to use these pieces for repertoire and recital.

  • July 01, 2006 I love teaching adults with this book!

The book has a fresh overall approach and the tunes ,though beginner, are not hoaky. The CD is well done. I enjoy using it very much and my students do as well.
