  • November 30, 2010 The best beginner's blues method

This method is what I use for my students who wish to begin exploring the blues. It is well-paced and can be utilized by anyone with a strong understanding of eighth note rhythms and a reasonably small chord vocabulary. Works well when used with the Hal Leonard Guitar Method...

Books 1 and 2. I usually introduce it after the student has completed Book 1 and can read notes and rhythms in 1st position. Yes, "Blues You Can Use" has more in-depth discussion of blues scales and technique, and the songs progress faster in difficulty, but this blues method is a better place to start. If you can play everything in this book, then you are well prepared to pursue the "Blues You Can Use" series. I highly recommend this method.

This book has alot of fun songs in it.It's fun to play the song over the cd as a backing track. There may be better blues books out there ,according to others but I think going through this book is definatly worthwhile.

Check out BLUES YOU CAN USE by John Ganapes, a much better blues book in my opinion.
