    This works for me because it's where I'm at musically at the moment. I want to learn how to create and play my own stuff. Good step by step guide to learning scales, then the different patterns. The book assumes you already know a few things; notes on...

    the fretboard, some music theory. Not for a beginner. Each section has techniques for dexterity to go along with the musical subject for that chapter. There are play along tracks for each chapter as well.
