    Glen Burnie, MD
    Difficulty Level:
  • August 03, 2003 get the complete version

For a couple bucks more, you can by the 288 page "complete Vol. 1" edition from the same publisher (Warner Bros.) If you are getting this one anyway because you just want "Steamroller" - keep reading - I assume the "complete" edition has the same junk. The complete edition I give 4...

stars - most of the songs (ordered by record albums) are arranged ok except for "Steamroller" which was done by someone on valium. The song is barely recognizable (the melody doesn't use all the same notes or durations that James Taylor uses on his studio or live version. The notes barely change, are almost all 1/8 notes, and the normally accented syllables don't occur on the beat - resulting in something resembling a Gregorian chant in a religious service. Someone forgot that the last verse has an extra line and left out the sheet music for the next to last line. For pianists: the baseline is ok and the right hand piano accompanyment is weak but passable.
