Piano - SMP Level 5 (Intermediate)
By Gonzales. By Gonzales. Arranged by Gonzales. This edition: French Edition. Recueil 1. Instrumental. Songbook. 36 pages. Published by Editions Bourges (BU.EBR-512).

Item Number: BU.EBR-512

There are those who would say that music is not long for this world. That music has become old, lazy and bitter. That there are no hidden Mozart's left to inspire it. Yes, music is dying. But it is the musicians themselves that will have music's blood on their hands. It is they who have become old lazy and bitter. Todays musician is impatient, wanting to instantly climb aesthetic mountains and to swim in poetic oceans. But is he really prepared? Is today's musician ready to journey so far without a reward? If he is not, then music deserves to die. Unless, no secret Mozart can save it. Musical genius is no someone; it is a path. It begins on a single note but no destination is planned. No destination, but perhaps a guide, a musician at times slothful and bitter himself, who knows this path well even if he hasn't reached the end. And now musical genius, in all its magnanimity, has devoted its endless path to the perpetual student, Monsieur Gonzales

Could only find this music here on sheet music plus, the only downside to this purchase was the price, ~$50 USD (music + shipping to Canada). An amazing CD by the same title includes all the songs in this book and maybe a dozen more. All the songs in this book...

can be heard online(songs included: Gogol, Overnight, Dot, Armellodie, Carnivalse, Paristocrats, Gentle Threat, Oregano, Empty Music). Gonzales (sometimes Chilly Gonzales) and his amazing live show can be seen if you live around the 49th parallel. Really great music, eloquent and graceful. I often compare it to Yann Tiersen's soundtrack to Amelie, though, having played both, I have found Solo Piano to be more dynamic and emotional. Can't recommend it more.

i bought this after listening to the CD. Gonzales' piano solo's are beautiful. Hard to define: diverse influences from classical-debussy-esque to more jazz threads. Worth the effort of learning these - Gonzales is a huge talent!
