As I have found in many of the MMO recordings, the orchestra is sufficient but the soloist is serverely lacking. The bio of Jana Dukanova begins with 'Startling virtuoso' however this is far from the case. She plays with a remarkable lack of passion, for such a romantic piece, and...

it sounds very much as if she was reading from the score while playing, for there was very little that was musically pleasing about this performance. While her intonation was good on the whole, it did suffer a bit in the third movement. The orchestra, however, does a good job in supporting the soloist. The tempi are on the slower side making the recording easy to play along with. The music that comes with this recording is well prepared but has few fingerings, allowing the player to develop his or her own. While I recommend this as a good practice aid I highly recommend that you get an additional recording by a professional violinist to go along with it.
