I taught this to my SSA high school ensemble and they absolutely love to sing it. A joy to teach and to perform.

Sheet Music Plus had everything I needed for the choir, and it arrived quickly.

I like the music rendition of this familiar song.

  • February 21, 2011 My first Rutter

This piece was my first exposure to Rutter back in the 1980s. I have found this to be the easiest piece by Rutter. The ⅜ section near the end may be a challenge to singers who have had little exposure to meter changes. The melody is playful and fun. Getting out...

the phrase "flowers of earth and buds of heaven" might be tricky at first, as flowers is written a one syllable. I have also played the string bass part (on my tuba) in an orchestra with a combined choir for an ecumenical Thanksgiving service. This piece is a great first exposure of John Rutter to a choir.

Not as easy as it looks at first but builds to a lovely piece that goes down well at weddings.
