Franz Danzi was born in Schwetzingen, Germany, on June 15th, 1763. He lived and worked in Mannheim, Munich, Stuttgart, and Karlsruhe. As a young man, he knew and revered Mozart, was a contemporary of Beethoven, and later was a mentor for the young Carl Maria von Weber. Danzi died in Karlsruhe, on April 13th, 1826.
