If you have ever had the joy to perform Gustav Holst’s FIRSTSUITE IN E-FLAT FOR MILITARY BAND, you are aware that the second movement usestwo E-flat clarinets on a very prominent line that cannot be omitted. But notmany bands use E-flat clarinet anymore – much less likely two players. Holstskillfully wrote the FIRST SUITE so it could be performed with as few as 18players. But for some reason, publishers have never cross-cued the E-flatclarinet parts in a suitable manner . . . until now. Here is the missing part!

With very little difficulty, the critical part for the twoE-flat clarinets can be played by two flute players. It sounds just as good, ifnot better. And none of the flute part has to be omitted.

LISTEN to the sound excerpt and decide for yourself. Thisspecial part works with all Holst editions on the market (original version,Fennell edition, Matthews edition, etc.)

NOTE: When you download/print the document (2 pages - plusthe preview page), do not print the first/preview page. Page 2 is identical tothe preview page but without the nag text.
