  • January 26, 2009 great arrangements

The arrangements for Route 66 and Georgia on My Mind are alone worth the value of the book. One reviewer calls the arrangements "jazzy" and I'm struggling to come up with a better adjective. Perhaps "soulful." These are not just good arrangements of well-known standards, but pieces that...

are enhanced by the voice of the guitar. The music is not for beginners, as another reviewer says, but they're not difficult either for the intermediate player. I should mention that I usually take my time learning and memorizing a piece and these pieces do require a level of patience.

i`m sure, piburn is a great guitarist. but I´m not sure if he is a good teacher. i think he will always demonstrate how good he is. very hard and complicated to play.

I couldn't find a review of this (or any signs indicating what level of difficulty), but bought it anyway based on Bill Piburn's excellent reputation. I couldn't be more happy with this collection. The arrangements are top notch & some great additions to my repetoire. Fingerings are provided...

where not intuitive. I've been playing guitar for over 20 years, but fingerstyle for only the last 5. I'm very selective about the arrangements I add to my repertoire. These arrangements provide a challenge for me & are helping me learn some more of the jazz, chord-melody side of fingerstyle playing. Definitely for the int.-advanced player.
