The book is good, with visuals that attracts the young students' interests. But there is no page dedicated for the CD track guide to follow through. When I check each track, they weren't edited properly. Here are what I've noticed from the CD: 1. very long waiting time...

(around 20 seconds) before starting to play 2. some songs are cut at the middle of the song 3. the remaining part of the song and the next song are combined in a single track (this is what I've observed for now) I'd rather buy the separate accompaniment book than rely on the CD recording.

I have so many students that because of the uncomfortable way the violin is held, practicing is not fun! When they're young, they cry out of frustration. This book is great for short pieces that teach basics BUT do not handicap the student by drawing in finger numbers! Finger...

numbers do not enforce note reading. This book really forces the student to learn but in ways that are short and sweet -- not so uncomfortable. Also, since the student learns a piece quickly, they feel a sense of accomplishment each week. And the CD is great! They feel like they're preforming! Thank you! Now, if you just had some THEORY training to go with it, I'd give it 5 stars...

I am THRILLED to have discovered the Fiddle Time series. For years I have looked for a fun, thorough, full-color, beginning violin method for young children. I have FINALLY found it! This book is actually the second in the series. However, if you have a student who can already...

read music you could begin with this book. The first 10 songs are limited to open strings, incorporating a variety of styles and some excellent duets. Unlike the Fiddle Time Starters, it introduces fingers one at a time in order, on all 4 strings. I absolutely love the variety in musical styles and the many duets are excellent. The recordings do not give a no-violin, "performance" option, but they are wonderful fully accompanied performances of every song, and not just piano accompaniment- sometimes cello, castanets, drum set, etc. (Each song is softly counted off on the recording as well) Add the Fiddle Time Scales 1 and you have an excellent beginner method for young children.
