Festive Arias for Soprano or Mezzo Soprano and Trumpet

By Scott Foss

Customer Rating:   4 Reviews Write a Review

Festive Arias for Soprano or Mezzo Soprano and Trumpet composed by Scott Foss. For soprano voice, trumpet, piano. Educational Vocal, Christmas, Eastertide, General, Sacred. Moderately difficult. Vocal score. Published by Roger Dean Publishing (LO.30-1676R).

Trumpet player, teacher and arranger David Cooper has selected five of the most popular arias for soprano/mezzo-soprano and arranged them to include festival Trumpet parts. The arias include: Alleluja for Exsultate, Jubilate by W. A. Mozart; Laudamus te from Mass in C minor by Mozart; Let the Bright Seraphin from Samson by Handel; O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings to Zion from messiah by Handel; and Rejoice Greatly from Messiah by Handel. The Alleluia and Let The Bright Seraphim are in two keys in order to make them available for both Sopranos and mezzo-sopranos. This collection includes a CD that contains a full performance track, a track with only piano and Trumpet to allow the singer to practice, and a track with only piano and voice to allow the Trumpet to practice. When an aria is in two keys, both keys are available with piano and Trumpet.

  • Alleluja
  • O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion
  • Laudamus te
  • Rejoice Greatly O Daughter Of Zion
  • Let The Bright Seraphim
  • Let The Bright Seraphim High Voice

    Difficulty Level:
  • March 03, 2009 Great for Chuch celebrations

This music is great for church, but not for anyone. The vocals require a more advanced touch and the trumpet, even though there are two parts, can be challenging. However, the CD that comes with the book is very helpful. It breaks the music down into manageable chunks and makes...

it easy to get up to speed even when your accomp. is not there.

    Difficulty Level:
  • March 20, 2008 good for church gigs!

I bought this book of arias because I am a mezzo soprano and my fiance is a trumpet player (both MM performance-level), and we were looking for pieces to perform together. I already knew all of the pieces in the book, so for our circumstance, the book was fine...

. However, the arrangements are not the best, and DEFINITELY not written by a singer (some of the phrases of the vocal line are ridiculously long). We also changed a few things to make them sound more like the original scores. It is nice that there are 2 trumpet parts written, so you can choose from a more advanced or less advanced version. The less advanced version sounds extremely simplified and bare-bones though. I probably would not perform these arrangements for other professional musicians... they are fine for a church service or two, but they definitely take away from the composers intention (they (save Let the Bright Seraphim) weren't written for voice and trumpet, after all!)

    Little Rock, AR
    Difficulty Level:
  • March 16, 2007 A must for the advanced singer!

You get the pieces written in two keys for both higher and lower voices as well as an accompaniment CD. I am no pianist but now, if I assign this literature to a student or need to sing it myself, my students and I have the means to practice more...

efficiently and effectively. It's a good investment!
