I find most pieces nicely arranged and have started playing them during church services. I recommand this for classical guitarists searching for sacred repertoire

I found that this sheet music to be very good. I was looking for Tab Hymns that was not to easy, and not to hard either. I just wich it included All Creatures of our God and King. Some of the pieces I never heard of before.

  • February 14, 2008 Favourite Hymns for Solo Guitar

This is a nice publication by Hal Leonard comprising 30 well known hymns for solo guitar. I feel that it represents very good value for money. In Favourite Hymns for Solo Guitar both Tab and notation are used throughout. The arrangements are fullsome - generally in the first position - and stand...

alone as recognisable pieces in their own right. Words and melody are also provided for vocal accompanyment enabling practice with a choir. Marcel Robinson has done a very good job here and the music is satisfying and not overly difficult to play. It should appeal to fingerstyle players of around a year's study but is not lacking in challenge for those of intermediate to advanced levels. As with many publications my only criticism is that this should have come with a CD to assist with interpretation. Otherwise this is a great purchase.

  • June 14, 2007 Traditional Hymns for Fingerstyle Guitar

Finally...a book of traditional (not gospel) hymns. I love this Hal Leonard series which gives nice arrangements that are easy enough to play without much practice time. [Been playing about 10 years total, but not consecutively.] Most hymns in this book are written in easy keys (C, G), with...

a few in A,E and about 1/3 in Dropped D tuning. I did find a few mistakes for fingering (left-hand numbers in the wrong place), but otherwise, a great book.
