About Fast Track Music Instruction

FastTrack is (you guessed it!) a fast way for beginners to learn to play that instrument they just bought. FastTrack is different from other method books: we've made them user-friendly with plenty of cool songs that make it easy and fun for players to teach themselves. Plus, the last section of all the FastTracks books have the same songs so that students can form a band and jam together.

This is part of the Hal Leonard Fast Track series. I use these books to teach students to play guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard. Some of the songs are the same, so students learning different instruments with these books can play together, but not page-by-page, song-by-song...

. This book focuses on playing the melody in the right hand and playing chords with the left hand. It moves too quickly to be the only book for a young student, but is good for a more mature student desiring to learn left hand chording.

  • March 04, 2007 I found it to be a great learning tool!

I have to disagree that this book doesn't teach you left hand playing, it does. I feel that it is for beginners so it caters to them, gradually introducing using both hands. I love it!

  • November 03, 2005 Play keyboard fast

This is great book for someone learning to play keyboard. It teaches in a style that prefers chords over a left hand accompaniment. This is great for a lot of contemperary music, but it does not allow for classical music. If oyu learn in this style you can use the...

guitar chords written over the treble cleff so the bass cleff is not necessary. Overall a great book that teaches a lot really fast.

  • February 26, 2002 A little disappointed

After wanting to play the piano/keyboard for quite sometime now, I purchased this book in hopes it would be a good teaching tool. It only shows you how to play the main melodies to songs and does not show you how to use your left hand. Which is vital...

to learning to play. This is good if you want to take it slow and start out with the main melody, but if you are looking to learn the notes and accompaniment with your left hand, look elsewhere.
