In memory of Maynard Ferguson. There will be a wealth of trumpet features dedicated to MF's memory published this year, so here is mine. It is a piece in two sections based on two different moods associated with Maynard during his "Birdland" period. The first is a bluesey ballad in the style of "Frame for the Blues". The second is a laid-back blues in the style of "Blue Birdland". The solo trumpet part requires at least a G above high C. The soloist shines over the ensemble.
