Challenging for both primo and secondo, but not excessively so (I would rate this "9," not "10"), lovely melodic lines, a pleasure to play!

The horizontal design makes it easy for each pianist to read his or her own part. The page turns are well placed (alternating between primo and secondo). There are no fingerings (a few key ones would have been beneficial, especially near the end!).

  • May 03, 2007 MEMORABLE AND BEAUTIFUL........................

I first discovered this four-handed piano work by Schubert when it was played in the movie "Madame Sousatska" starring Shirley MacLaine as an eccentric piano teacher in London. It's beautiful opening melody began to haunt me and I would find myself humming it. I enjoy having the music...

but unfortunately have not found anyone (yet) to play it with me. I am really looking forward to that. I must admit that I was never that fond of Schubert in the past, but this piece caused me to look at some of his other works that I am now also enjoying.

  • March 16, 2006 Memorable Evening with Schubert

I recently went to a Medici concert in Brisbane, Australia and saw this piece played by the great Michele Campanella and his wife, Monica Leone. What a honour it was to sit there and listen to such music. It is essentially quite a dark and intense piece, but there are...

moments of sheer melodious joy, which sometimes I think only Schubert is capable of. In his own way, of course, he is! If anybody is as moved by this piece as I have been I would love their comments.
