This is a fine collection of old fiddling tunes. These came to us from settlers from the British Isles many years ago. Excellent for the experienced or casual player.

$7.95 with a CD isn't too bad- I would consider this early intermediate because you want to make sure you have your bow hold and left hand position solid before you take these on. my only issue was the size of the book- but I just listed to the...

CD, marked my favorites, and photocopied them. I certainly would recommend for a change of pace and some challenge that's fun.

  • April 17, 2009 great little book

My daughter loves playing violin. She's an advanced player who loves to play fiddle music and was looking for something more challenging and fun, than she already had. So we ordered this book. It was kind of disappointing, at first, because the book was so small. But it made...

up for its size in the amount of songs. It has a great variety of songs--American, Irish, and traditional music. Most of the songs are kind of intermediate to advanced. She says the songs are a lot of fun to play. The songs are really not that hard, but it takes a bit of practice to become accustomed to the techniques to play the songs. Basically if you have been playing the violin for a couple of years you should be able to be able to play these songs. It's a great book for anyone to try, if they have enough skill to tackle it, and a lot of fun to play.
