At the annual Boston Food Fair in 1908, a pretty girl caught Sousa's eye. He never got a chance to meet her, but she inspired this piece. I've always enjoyed this particular Sousa march, so I thought I would try my hand at transcribing it for clarinet choir. There were some challenges, particularly the high melody range throughout the piece, including the trio. Depending on your ensemble's instrumentation, the primary melody part can be played by either the Eb or solo Bb, or both. The Eb contra part allows for some flexibility in which octave sounds best with your ensemble.
