About Original Sheet Music Edition

Each ORIGINAL SHEET MUSIC EDITION has been arranged for piano by Alfred's talented staff of arrangers. Every effort has been made for the arrangement to be playable on the piano and to sound as close to the original recording as possible. If there are lyrics, a separate vocal line is used so that singers can easily sing along, and all lyrics as heard on the original recording are always included. Almost all arrangements are written in the original key in which they were recorded.

  • May 14, 2006 Carlos should thank Gato!...

Once in a rare while, a piece is selected by other than the original artist (in this case Carlos Santana) and the rendition is equal to if not superior to the original. Of course, being a sax player I am biased and even more so because no one plays as...

passionately as Gato. Not since Miles Davis has any musician better captured the essence of a single note's sound as opposed to the rapid sound of many notes ( sorry Kenny G.)

  • February 27, 2006 GATO DID NOT WRITE THIS PIECE

It is indeed a wonderful piece- written by CARLOS SANTANA. Gato does a great cover of it, but if you want to hear it in its full glory, then get a live version of Santana playing it. It will blow your mind

  • January 25, 2006 An Introduction into Latin Jazz

I was not very familiar with Latin music until I heard the soft, sensitive sound of Europa, by Gato Barbieri. It was like a revelation to me. I felt what he played and I have never forgotten. You must hear it!
