  • May 07, 2010 Beware! Not as good as first 2 books

This book is missing most of the playalongs for the exercises. A big disappointment for me, after enjoying the first 2 books of the series, I thought this was going to be just as enjoyable, not so. Too bad the publishers did not do a complete job. I did a...

few of the initial exercises, got bored with it, and went on to better things.

  • April 16, 2008 What a disappointment!

I was overjoyed when I learned there was a third book available in the Essential Techniques 2000 series. Then, I got Book 3. I was stunned to find that only a few of the songs in the book were actually included on the CD. Instead it consists mostly of scales...

, etudes and arpeggios. What a disappointment! Especially, since this book contains some really great music. It's playable. I continue to work through it. But it's not same fun and rapid experience as the first two Techniques 2000 books. What bothers me most is that there was nothing in the online description to let me and other customers know about this major omission. Like me, most people will only discover what's missing after ordering and receiving the book. It can be sent back, of course. But most of us will keep it and slog through the pages, grumbling and bored, wishing Hal Leonard and the book's authors had cared a bit more about consumers and recorded more and better music, instead of cutting corners.
