These duet transcriptions provide pianists the opportunity to become familiar with a broad range of literature and to experience well-known works in a more immediate and in-depth manner. The pieces in this collection make excellent repertoire selections for piano ensemble classes, in both the private studio and at the college level. Titles: Toccata and Fugue in D Minor (Bach / Trans. Reger) * Allegro con Brio (from Symphony No. 5) (Beethoven / Trans. Ulrich) * Nocturne No. 5 (Field / Trans. Liszt) * Andante (from Symphony No. 94, "Surprise") (Haydn / Trans. Ulrich) * Andante (from Octet in E-flat Major) (Mendelssohn) * Overture (from The Magic Flute) (Mozart / Trans. Ulrich) * Overture (from The Barber of Seville) (Rossini / Trans. Schoenberg). The comb binding creates a lay-flat book that is perfect for study and performance.

    Southgate,NSW, Australia
    Difficulty Level:
  • September 20, 2012 A couple of fun pieces

This book is a mixture of really good duets ie Haydn, and Ravel but the Beethovan is disappointing. The spiral binding means it sits flat but it would be better in landscape form to minimise page turning. The primo parts tend to be the more interesting. If you like this...

book I would recommend book two in this series.

    Difficulty Level:
  • July 27, 2012 A good duet book

I have enjoyed playing several of the duets in this book, particularly the Barber of Seville and Magic Flute overture. I also like the spiral binding of this series which allows the pages to lie flat and is better than a normal binding in a thick book so you are...

not forever slapping the pages back to place while playing!!
