The book includes guitar music and tabulature for a number of well-and less-well known Clapton songs, but seems to concentrate on more on rhythm guitar and playing songs rather than the solo British blues style that made him so famous. The solos presented are accurate, but short, and...

for some, the strumming of chords is written out but the solo lines are not, which is frustrating. If you want to play old tunes from start to finish, this book is OK, but for looking at the improvisation style of this guitar icon, best shop elsewhere.

I agree with a previous reviewer that only 1 guitar is tabbed out. I have many titles in the Play Along Series and I think the goal is to come up with an arrangement that one person can play along to. Any song with multiple guitar parts is split between...

the rhythm and lead parts with the backing tracks switching as well. That said, I think they struck a good balance between guitar parts, usually tabbing out the most memorable riffs, licks or lead lines. As for accuracy, I’d actually give this a pretty high mark. You’re always going to find transcribers placing chords differently across the fretboard in different books.

  • March 28, 2005 I'll give it a C minus!

The tab only includes 1 guitar part "the lead", it would be nice to have 2nd and 3rd guitar parts tabbed out as well. Also, some of the tabs are not very accurate. I have other books in this series and they are great! I'm not sure what happened...

    with this one!!!
