Concert Band - Grade 1
Composed by Larry Clark. Concert Band; SmartMusic. Belwin Beginning Band. Conductor Score & Parts. 212 pages. Duration 2:24. Published by Belwin Music (AP.BD9670).

Item Number: AP.BD9670
ISBN 0757932908.

Take notice! Seldom, if ever, have we heard a more musically exciting venture for beginning band. Composer Larry Clark, in a highly creative period, has developed this stunning new work. Two opposing themes resist one another. A constant motor element in the winds fights the lyrical melodic material. Each new angular theme is more forceful than the last. Percussion is a separate color opposing the winds. Unique and tightly written, with fantastic program potential! (duration 2:24) This title is available in SmartMusic.

In this piece, Larry Clark did a wonderful job creating, and setting the mood, that is the title. He uses work throughout the ensemble, and percussion to create the theme of the two engines that are resisting each other. I wouldn't say that this is a very complicated piece...

, but it isn't easy either. I would highly recommend this piece to any band director. Thanks Mr. Clark, for yet another fantastic piece.

I never thought, and I just now realized, the harder the song, the better it sounds. I play the Flute, and i'm in 7th grade band, this is one our 5 songs. This song is the one we will be waiting to perform!
