A zapateado is a Spanish dance for one person accompanied by the guitar. It is always in triple meter, and the feet of the dancer make a considerable amount of noise. Dennis Alexander captures the characteristics of this dance in this intermediate solo. Written in A minor and 3/4 time, students will enjoy the alternating rhythm between the hands and a lyrical, left-hand melody. This piece will make an exciting recital or contest solo.

A great "guy" song! An audience pleaser for recitals but also good all year around.

My 10-year-old daughter has really enjoyed this piece and likes to play it for people. It sounds very grand and rich and daring. It calls for steady rhythm and control. Perfect for students who like to perform and will help bring out those who don't.

I have a very bright 9 year old studying this piece. She loves it because it sounds big and exciting. I use it to teach alternating hand coordination and will use it for competition.
