    Tasmania, Australia.
    Difficulty Level:
  • February 21, 2007 A difficult but rewarding work.

This work, although challenging in many ways is a very rewarding work to sing. The range is on the higher side (tessitura: b-f), particularly for baritones (who, though it was composed for female voice, seem to be singing the work alot these days), and there are some sections that...

require a lot of attention (No. 4: Thomas Logge)but the emotional content and the audience reaction to these songs make it a joy to learn and perform. If you are looking for pretty, happy songs, then these are not for you; however, if you want a peice that is beautiful and engaging than this is a must. The set deserves to be peformed more, not just here in Australia, but all over. They are masterpieces and deserve to be universally recognised as this. The score is clear and well set out. Duration of the work: 11 mins.
