DISTANT STAR is a modern setting based on a text from "Gentle Mary," by Joseph S. Cook, and "imbeds" a portion of the familiar tune "Good King Wenceslaus." The music opens with original music in a modern and slightly "gospel" style before introducing the familiar "Good King Wenceslaus" tune in lower parts with a soprano counter melody. The two and three part versions include harmony at a middle school level of difficulty. .
