Concert Band - Grade 4
Composed by Carl Strommen. Concert Band. Alfred Concert Band. Conductor Score & Parts. 136 pages. Published by Alfred Music (AP.12974).

Item Number: AP.12974

You'll really get a nice sound with this one! Carl's original work explores the rich American folk style in two sections. The first has broad, moving harmonies under a Shenandoah-like melody, and the second a lively dance reminiscent of Copland. Cumberland Cross is not too difficult, yet very impressive!
List/syllabus: TX UIL PML: Band, Winds, Perc.

I loved this peice. Though I didn't buy it from this site, I reccomend it fully. I play in the wind section in a middle scholl band, and the piece was for tryouts (I was accepted!) and I have to say, this music has everything. Amazing.

when I first recieved this piece from my band director, Larry Cornelius. I was like Mr. C this is impossible( for my section, the tubas, especially at measure 45.) and he wants us to go even faster than that other than that fun piece!!

  • February 13, 2007 Exciting as is difficult!

I am a member of the RMS advanced Band, i play the tenor Sax. This is an exciting piece definitely if you have a strong low brass and good woodwinds to play it. The rhythms are fun as are difficult. My band went to District Contest and received a rating...

of 2-2-2 playing this piece, you have to have excellent intonation to play this piece.
