Crown Imperial

Crown Imperial composed by William Walton (1902-1983). Arranged by Jay Bocook. For Concert Band. Score and full set of parts.. Young Concert Band. Grade 3. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.4001733).

Jay Bocook has once again created a new accessible version of a band classic with this superb rescoring of Walton's infamous regal march. The musical pageantry and thrilling strains have been carefully arranged for playability by most groups. Not only is this an excellent contest piece, but an ideal graduation processional.

A welcome arrangement in this 'Jubilee year' with an edited version to suit most 'community' band. but with a rather fierce cut at bar 68, a bit disconcerting to anyone used to the original band arrangement. Nevertheless,a stock item useful for a rousing finale at any occasion.

This was a piece of music I played in a concert band. This is a very effective piece of music. It won our band the Superior at the Freehold, NJ "Trills and Thrills" Music Festival 2000.
