  • December 27, 2009 Have to disagree with Ron

Richter has a recording of the entire concerto. If it's "worth learning" for him, then it's definitely good enough for me.

  • February 07, 2005 "Egyptian" Concerto

One of the most neglected of Saint-Saens' five concertos is surely one of the best. This "Egyptian" Concerto contains some of the most interesting harmonies and melodies found in the whole of Saint-Saens music. The spectacular first movement is very memorable in its tonality, but it is the...

second movement that defines the work. There are many unusual effects to be found here. The final movement is a sparkling example of awesome pianism and a fitting conclusion to a mysterious, neglected work. A difficult (but not overly so) work, it is well worth the effort to learn, and worth more fame and praise than it is receiving at present.
