This has been popular recently. I played this in 1980, and found it bombastic and not very lyrical, a distant cousin to the sonata.

This is a very challenging piece but I'm enjoying working on it. I got the opportunity to hear a university professor play the last two movements with the concert band that I'm in and it inspired me to order it. I don't know that I'll be...

able to work up the fast movements to the correct tempo but it sure gives me something to work towards.

The "Creston Concerto for Alto Saxophone" is a standard piece of the saxophone repertoire for the very advanced level player only. available from Sheet Music Plus is the well known "Creston Sonata" for Alto Sax" written for Alto Saxophone and piano. Both pieces are magnificent.

one of the lesser performed of the standard pieces of seaxophone repetoire. it is an excellent piece music that provides places to show both excellent musicianship, stellar technique and even some exended range. it is definitely for an adavnced saxophone player.

Paul Creston's great rhythm and technique in his composing is well shown in this piece. Indeed difficult, but a heck of a lot of fun to play. This piece is a must for any serious saxophone player.
