  • April 12, 2011 Excellent, but why are these so pricey??

George Perlman wrote some very nice pieces for beginning to intermediate violinists. They have interesting harmonies and they sound a bit harder to play than they actually are! This one is particularly hard to find, however. I did find the third movement in a compilation put out by Evelyn Avsharian...

*(Shar), but this is the only publication I could find that contained the entire concertino. My problem with many of these is why are they so expensive!? Most of my students' parents balk at paying $15 for a single piece. It would be nice if someone compiled all of the Perlman pieces (the ones he composed, not the ones he arranged) in one book as they have with the Seitz. I would have given it more stars had it been more affordable.

as a college student beginning a violin studio I am constantly searching for appropriate performance music outside the Suzuki method books. it was challenging for an early-intermediate student in areas such as technique and style, along with a few rhythms. once these are learned the piece was repetitive to...

the extent of allowing the mastering of it all. my student performed the third movement this spring and loved it! she is now considering learning the remaining two movements and performing the entire piece.
