Great volume of Debussy. My teacher was surprised to see no pedal markings, but the slur marks are sufficient for dynamics. Very glad to have this edition and the price is right.

  • November 04, 2005 The Price is Right ... & the notes ??

Yes, this dover edition is under $10 and is fairly comprehensive in tems of its glossary but the reprint does have some serious flaws. The Prelude No.6 in Bk 1 has ties missing over Bars 6 & 7 and in its reoccuring places in the piece. " The sunken Cethedral " too...

has a different view on slurrs and " pedal markings " through such slurrs as the urtext version. I would not reccomend this book to a performer or a student giving an exam - you might possibly loose marks - I found out the hard way.

This Dover volume is an unabridged reprint of the original Durand editions (which appeared in two volumes). It is a high-quality reprint with a very durable binding - at an unbeatable price. The Durand editions reprinted are generally fairly reliable, though anyone interested in serious musicological study might prefer to...

consult the various scholarly editions offered in addition to this, Dover scores again!

Wonderful spacing within the lines and large noteheads result in an easily readable, playable edition. Also, the glossary of French terms is extremely helpful in learning how Debussy wanted his music expressed. And for under ten dollars, how could you go wrong? Absolutely wonderful!!!
