I have played the classical guitar for some years but recently switched to playing an archtop my hero being Joe Pass. Most of the tutors I've read seemed to come into the middle of things and failed to explain basics. This book takes you through from the very basics...

to pretty advanced in clear logical steps. If you can take all the information in you will be a very informed player. My only warning is it's not a book for late night reading as it gets pretty heavy as you progress into the final chapters.

Easy approach to Jazz Guitar. I personally like the teaching of Christiansen, already got the Blues Guitar and the Rock Guitar ones. It really helps you in understanding absic and intermediate principles, however can't substitute a good teacher!
