I have an extensive collection of jazz (cocktail) music but found some new titles in this compilation, including Melody Gardot's more recent classic Worrisome Heart. Best of all, it features the full-length version of all songs, including the introduction. Most books omit the introduction to save pages; however...

, I feel these are often a critical component to giving the song its full voice. They're also an excellent opportunity to practice jazz piano techniques and improvisation. Most of the songs are an intermediate level, while others require a more advanced level of expertise. Because this is a PVG book, the piano doesn't always carry the melody, but intermediate players should be able to compensate and work the melody into their playing. Like most music books, the binding could be a little more durable. I'm still waiting for the day when all books are spiral bound.

Nice selection of songs, but unfortunately the arrangements are relatively simplistic and not very full sounding. Recommended for the intermediate pianist for enjoyment. Arrangements are not suitable for public performance unless you are able to use the music presented as a starting point and can embellish and improvise quite a...

bit. Most songs have the vocal melody in the right hand, but the following songs are presented as "voice with piano accompaniment" (no melody in piano part): At Last Desperado Mack the knife
