    Difficulty Level:
  • August 03, 2008 Gorgeous Keveren Arrangements

The book stays open effortlessly. Attractive cover. Three or four bars a line, generously-sized notes. The arrangements emphasize and encourage imaginative, slow rubato interpretation. Relatively few notes per bar, no long hand stretches, no tricky passages. Apparently an arranger on a mission to prove them both easy and gorgeous...

. Often the piece builds so that lovely 11th or 13th chords are delivered with maximum emotional impact. Sight-reading friendly. Friendly for memorizing, particularly if you memorize one hand at a time, one line at a time, and then link them up, playing hands together only after each hand is solidly memorized start to finish. Great for gigging. Worth recording on a Zoom H4 for a personal CD. Ditto for several others in the series: Cinema Classics, Broadway's best, The Beatles, Great Standards, Classical Jazz, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Mowtown Hits. Phillip Keveren and Dan Fox are THE arrangers for intermediate players. Advanced players love them, too.

    Difficulty Level:
  • July 05, 2007 Beautifully arranged, not too difficult

I am a fan of the Phillip Keveren series, and this is my favorite book of all. The arrangements are lush, beautiful, interesting, and best of all, won't take the late intermediate/early advanced player long to prepare for performance. Great pieces for weddings, dinner clubs, etc. Pleasing, melodic...

chord structures and nostalgic melodies are pleasing to anyone's ears!!! My favorite pieces: "If I Loved You", "Edelweiss", "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?"
