The book is not a must have, but it is nice to have, Hal-Leonard just plain does a better job with their "Essential Songs" series, not a great book for those looking for classic rock stuff. This book doesn't balance the 60's best music in it very...

well. If you were to name the 100 best songs of the 60's, I doubt that you would include "Let's Twist Again", or have SIX songs from Roy Orbison in your list. Orbison and Burt Bacharach are over-represented here. The biggest flaw, though, is the physical book itself. It is impossible to get it to lay flat on the piano without placing a series of gator clips and bricks on either open side, it just folds right back up. The music is also written on a different kind of paper, and some songs are copied so small that it's hard to tell sometimes which leger line a certain note is played on, or which accidentals occur on which notes. I still recommend it somewhat to those looking for Motown oldies.
