  • March 22, 2009 Very Impressed

I am very pleased with the amount of material & variety in this collection. I'm not sure what the previous reviewer was concerned about. I have no problem with the transcription. But I am reading the music notation not the "tab". Sure Brightest Star was transcribed half a tone down...

from Santana's recorded version. But easy enough to transpose into the original key. I am very glad that I was not put off from purchasing this book by the earlier review. It is well worth every cent at just over $2 (Aus) per title with quite a few very lengthy pieces included.

  • May 26, 2007 were the transcriptions done in China?

I would strongly suggest purchasing the older Carlos Santana transcription books that Alfred Publishing took over from Cherry Lane and Warner Bros like the "Greatest Hits..." "Dance of the Rainbow Serpent" "Supernatural" "Shaman" etc., instead of any of AP's new tablature books. For one thing, Alfred Publishing is brand...

new to the transcription market which has been dominated by Warner Bros., Hal Leonard, Cherry Lane and Music Sales who have the best transcribers and editors in the market. It is obvious that AP is using unknown, cheap labor, possibly from China or Russia but they're not lowering the price for the buyer. Would AP hide the credits if they felt they had quality that they're proud of? Not a wise investment of your money or your time to overpay for inacurate transcriptions.
