  • February 02, 2008 Most accurate to the original

This edition was recommended to me by my clarinet professor because it is the most accurate to what Mozart originally wrote. Over the years, many interpretations (staccato, forte, piano) were added by different people so that there are many interpretations of this work today. This edition works to include only...

what it is believed that Mozart wrote. Therefore, this edition contains less markings of dynamics, articulation, etc., and leaves room for your own interpretation.

  • October 09, 2007 best edition I have used

This edition is based on the Mozart Neue Ausgabe, making use of the latest and best scholarship and research. on the standard modern clarinet. Very few clarinet players have access to a basset-clarinet. [...[

  • September 24, 2007 Great Edition, plus a basset clarinet part!

This arrangement is great; it doesn't have any ridiculous inserts by the arranger, just the original piece as it was meant to be played... I mean just that, too, because it also includes a part for Basset Clarinet in A! For the price, you get a lot for the...

money... I'm not sure how compatible it is with orchestra scores available, but it doesn't make much difference when memorizing a piece... The music is what matters, and this edition certainly presents the music. There are no articulations written, those are to be added, but that is the trademark of a good edition of this piece, if not true classical era music. The notes pages preceding the music (English and German) are good, but not extremely extensive, so I do suggest knowing the piece a little before playing. I'm writing this review more for those who are looking for a more current edition or need to find a better edition than some of the others out there (strange transpositions into Bb major can ruin an audition).
