  • January 03, 2009 OK enough, but not a repertoire mainstay

I'm not a jazzer and only like a touch of jazz, but I try to incorporate a bit of it in my repertoire. This book had some, um, unique harmonies, including a few places that really must be misprints. There are some kinda fun rhythmic or harmonic passages, but...

it's more of a reference book for me than a gig book. Could be a good teaching book, especially for sight-reading jazz.

some of the chords are weird, too many false relationship so not sure whether is a printing error.. it just sounded strange. but generally is a good book to explore student to different arrangement of x'mas song.

  • December 16, 2003 Very enjoyable

Some nice arrangements with very interesting harmonies. Good jazz feel. Adds some Christmas spirit to your playing without investing too much effort. Pity chords symbols are not provided.

  • November 25, 2003 Decent Christmas Jazz

I thought this book was decent. I wouldn't rave about it to friends, but I also wouldn't discourage someone from purchasing it. Just be aware that the arrangements are fairly easy, so no real challenge with any of the pieces. I was impressed with the fact that the...

songs did keep their original sound.....Overall, I am pleased with this book.

Overall, a good jazz christmas book, except for "O Christmas Tree". It's the worst arrangement I've ever played.
