  • November 27, 2011 Christmas Jazz, Rags & Blues-book 2

Bought these for my students to get away from the standard classical style of playing. The 8 songs in this book have different style rhythms from blues,Jazz, and Ragtime written to Christmas songs. This book 2 has some very good syncopated rhythms, plus I have the students also add...

some improv. or change the note durations along with what is written to make the songs sound more lively. Songs in this series are pretty good as written. The Book 2 is easy to read and well organized. Songs are 1 to 3 pages in length. The songs are a series to get into pop/blues/Rag to learn basic syncopated rhythms and played to known Christmas songs. Book 2 is for the intermediate student throughout the book. All 4 Levels of this series are pretty good learning books. Variety of Blues, Jazz, and Ragtime Christmas songs from easy to the intermediate/advanced playing student. All the songs have very interesting styles to them. hope this helps. pianomanDT

  • December 19, 2007 For a teenage boy

I was looking for a good Christmas book for a teenage student of mine. At the beginning of the year he wasn't excited about returning for lessons, so I told him that I'd always do my best to come up with exciting songs for him. We found a...

few in this book and he's been very pleased. He tackled We Three Kings right away because he liked the rhythms so much.
