The thoughtful arrangements in this collection are infused with a uniquely fresh appeal. Subtle harmonic nuances accentuate the spiritual quality of the carols and give them a more contemporary feeling while secular Christmas songs are arranged in a more casual, sometimes jazzy style. Accompaniments incorporate imaginative patterns, counter melodies and bass progressions that add interest.

As a student, I loved going through all three of the original Christmas Cameo books, which were all at an early advanced level (level 6). So as a teacher, I was delighted when I heard that they were expanding the series to include levels 3, 4, & 5. I ordered them...

the day I heard. I was not a bit disappointed. The arrangements provide a welcome relief to the predictable sounds of most graded Christmas books. At the same time, the arrangements stay within the indicated levels and do not demand skills that the student won't see in his or her method book for another year or two. Most of the arrangements treat each song or carol in two different ways. The students enjoy seeing how changes in rhythm and harmony can give new life to an old song. They can't wait to be assigned the next selection. Many have expressed a desire to learn more Christmas music this season as a result.
