  • July 21, 2005 Ted Greens chord voicings have potential

Hi! I am a classical guitarist and I am working through this book right now because I thought that it would be the logical step to take before getting into George Van Eps Harmonic Mechanisms for guitar. If you are asking why I will explain myself now. Ted Green is...

highly influenced by George van eps music and his guitar playing sounds very similiar, also in the books you will see many esoteric chords that can only be found in the harmonic mechanisms series. some of the techniques maybe considered obscure in some modern areas of music, but it doesn't mean that you can't still apply these techniques there. The book is totally worth studying and I know that it's going to take me several years to work through. Patience is the key to understanding this. 1Traspose all chords to every key 2 invert every chord to the third inversion or 4/2 in classical terms 3 in order to accomplish this, use staff paper/chord diagram book- melbay has some.. or a good notation program.

  • June 22, 2005 Ted Green's book is excellent!

Ted Green's book is a truly wonderful book on the subject of chordal theory as the other reviewers have already said, so since good chordal theory books seem to be so hard to find I thought that I would name some of the few other ones.. Chords galore-by...

    Difficulty Level:
  • June 29, 2004 A timeless classic

I was lucky enough to be given a copy of this amazing book and unfortunate enough to lose it a few years later. Thats why I rushed out to get a replacement. This is a comprehensive exploration of the chord world for guitatrists of all musical genres backgrounds. Every page...

contains a technique or concept that will take years of enjoyment and frustration as you learn to employ and adapt the treasure house of chordal knowledge contained. A thoroughly recommended and essential flight case item. Don't be put off by the scarier shapes and inversions. Just sip this book a little at a time. Its a vintage that will reward you time and time again.
