  • August 15, 2008 Bach Chorales 1-91 in C-clefs

This is an excellent resource if you would like to master the art of reading C-clefs. The first section presents the chorales in open staff, C-clef with text in German. The latter section presents the same chorales in close staff with an English translation of the text. Preceeding...

both of these are scholarly notes on each of the chorales. I found it to be very useful.

  • November 16, 2007 Open Score for clef reading

This is a good book for practicing reading the various clefs, alto, tenor, bass and the g clef. It also is helpful for learning to read a score and realize a score on the piano or organ.

  • August 06, 2007 Excellent Resource

This volume presents the chorales in both open score form (with soprano, alto, tenor, and bass clefs) as well as in piano score form. The first shows the lines as orginally written, requiring good score-reading skills to realize. The second format facilitates a faster reading and analysis of the...

chorale, perfect for musicians wanting to study the chorales who may have weaker reading abilities.

  • July 30, 2007 C-Clef Bach Chorales

This book is brilliant for teaching fluency in the various clefs. However, I think its usefulness is somewhat limited to those people seeking to read full orchestral scores. It enables the learning of the Alto & Tenor clefs - and the Soprano clef is the same reading clarinet in A, which is...

also important. As well as all this, it gives the committed person a deep understanding of Bach's chorale harmonisations, moreso than just reading them in treble&bass closed score because the level of concentration and assimilation is so much higher here.
