This book of hymn arrangements as recorded by Chet Atkins was done in hopes that other guitarists will benefit from the availability of beautiful hymns for guitar, both for use in worship services and for personal enjoyment as well. The arrangements are given in notation and tablature just as Chet played them. They have not been simplified, and are intended for use by those who know and appreciate Chet's style of guitar technique. Fingerings and performance notes have been added by the transcriber.

    Bethlehem, PA
    Difficulty Level:
  • February 19, 2012 Nice arrangements

I grew up listening to Chet and was so thrilled to play from this book. The songs are best played with at least a duet, so grab another guitar-playing friend and have at it!

Chet Atkins is the best there has beem in the finger picking style guitar playing and the transcription of the music in this book matches the corresponding record of the same name. What a welcome relief compared to others on the market. Highly recommend this book.

    Difficulty Level:
  • December 06, 2002 Good book but lacks Rhythm

I'm a huge Chet fan and I love this album. I was excited to see this book. I have the album and the songs are very beautiful and thought provoking. Today I recieved the book and it looks great. The tab is easy to read and it has some...

good descriptions of the songs and some photos of chet. I was disappointed to find out that this book only features chets main lead guitar, I was really hoping that the backing rhythms would be included but they weren't. I plan to record some of these songs myslef and now I can't unless I can figure them out myself. All in all the solos in this book do sound great for a single guitarist and for playing along with the album. I rate it a 4 only for the lack of rhythms, otherwise a great book.
