Chant and Tribal Dance

Chant and Tribal Dance composed by David Shaffer. Concert band. Young Concert Band. Command Series. Audio recording available separately (items CL.WFR323 & CL.WFR344). Grade 2. Score and set of parts. Composed 2002. Duration 2 minutes, 22 seconds. Published by C.L. Barnhouse (CL.011-3243-00).

An outstanding composition for younger bands starts with a short slow "chant" section which features the flutes and then segues into the bright and exciting "dance". Features effective writing for percussion which will keep your drummers both interested and involved. A outstanding composition for this grade level by a very popular composer. A superb choice for any concert or contest. Grade 2.

Great song. I play percussion (bongos in this piece)and in our 5th grade band, but there is deffinatly some very hard places to count and stuff like that. Our whole band loves the song. David Shaffer is an awsome artist. I hope we can do something like this by...

him again. But what helps the most is that were with our friends playing the insterments that we love.

  • November 08, 2008 I Love This Song

This song is so cool and ya'll are lucky to play it at a younger age than I did. Our 7th grade band played this at our spring concert, district, and state. We were all 13 and awesome. I love David's music.
