Celtic Music for Flute, Volume 2

Celtic Music for Flute, Volume 2 composed by Jessica Walsh. For Flute. Saddle stitch. Celtic/Flute Instruction. Beginner/Intermediate. Book & Play Along CD. 52 pages. Duration 60 minutes. Published by ADG Productions (AD.ADG087-CD).

ISBN 1882146158. Celtic/Flute Instruction. .

Following on from Jessica's hugely successful book Celtic Music for Flute, she has produced a Volume 2 which contains 46 pieces ranging from lovely portraits to lively jigs. They come from traditions including Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and Manx, and were gathered from various sources: among others, manuscripts written for bagpipe, lute, mandora, fiddle, and voice. The unique personality and sound of the flute complements them all. A few of the tunes are more than 400 years old; some are new. All have that inexplicable but necessary magic, the quality which draws the flutist to begin the tune again, just one more time...

Whether a march, lilt, love song, or lament, each melody in this collection is a gem; many are sure to become cherished favorites. The accompanying Play-Along CD includes all the tunes in the same order in which they appear in the book. This CD features separate channels for flute and guitar so that the flutist can play along with the guitar accompaniment. Allan Alexander artfully renders the chords on guitar, providing a harmonic tapestry over which the melodies float.

What great music and a wonderful learning tool. Some songs are a bit challenging, but the extra practice is well worth it. I would highly recommend both volume l and 2.

  • December 04, 2008 Beautiful Celtic Flute Music!!!

Once again, Jessica Walsh and Allan Alexander have done a wonderful job. These songs are beautiful and so fun to play along with. I would highly recommend buying both volumes!

  • September 27, 2007 The oncore to volume one!

I think that volume two is just as wonderful as volume one if not better. I really like that you have the option to play alone with the guitar unlike volume one. The music is absolutely riveting and exciting making me not want to stop playing.

Volume 1 is wonderful. I was disappointed with the guitar arrangements on Vol.2.
